Description of the location
Palata is a small hilltop village in the province of Campobasso, in the peaceful region of Molise, southern Italy. Home to around 1,500 residents, it sits at an altitude of approximately 520 metres, where summer evenings are pleasantly cooler than along the coast.
The village offers everything needed for everyday life, including grocery shops, cafés, bars, a pharmacy, a kindergarten, a primary school, a post office and the town hall. The Adriatic coast and the seaside town of Termoli, with its beaches, marina, railway station, hospital and shopping facilities, are about a 30-minute drive away.
The historic centre of Palata is made up of stone houses clustered around the parish church, a small square with a local café where residents gather, and a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding countryside. From here, your eyes follow the rolling green hills all the way to the blue line of the Adriatic Sea. It is the kind of place where everyday life still follows the quiet rhythm of a traditional Italian village.
